Pragjyotish Senior Secondary School runs in accordance and guideline of the Pragjyotish School Society, Assam. Beginning initially for the purpose of imparting education, the society has broadened its base for social activities like extending help to needy and distress besides giving due incentives to meritorious students under Pragjyotish School Excellence Scholarship. The school had made an envious record in scholastic and co-scholastic areas in the bygone years.

Sri Mritunjaya Shukla , the founder of this school with his farsightedness and hard work has painstakingly dedicated the best part of his life to see that the benefits of excellent education reaching as far down as possible and not remain confined to watertight compartments.

Now being overwhelmed by the co-operation of the parents for the last 42 years, society has decided to give a complete face lift to this school's educational environment and coping up with the digital developments as and when needed.
It will not be out of place to mention here that the Pragjyotish School Society has decided to devote itself to a method of teaching and learning which is thoroughly dedicated to ignite the hidden talents in our children and to raise them at par which can match the National and International standards. Pragjyotish School Boragaon/Maligaon which is the one of the pioneers of Education in Guwahati City and has proved itself through outstanding performance of its students year after year in the HSLC examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) till 2010 and later in the AISSE and AISSCE under the Central Board of Secondary Education. Pragjyotish School has proved beyond doubt the ability and experience of this school and its faculty.

HISTORY
Pragjyotish school was founded by Mr Mritunjay Shukla in the year 1978 in Panbazar, Guwahati in a rented house with few students initially. The school completed ten years in the same house in Panbazar. Later due to need of more space it was shifted to Boripara, Maligaon in the year 1988. Here also, initially it was running in a rented house.
The school started earning a good name for its disciplined functioning and academic performance . The enrollment in school also increased year by year and requirement of more space became evident. The management then decided to apply for the affiliation from SEBA.
Gradually the process for obtaining the affiliation of school began, which was fulfilled in the year 2001 when Board of Secondary Education , Assam, recognized the school after fulfilling the norms , that again after shifting the school to a new campus (West Boragaon) in view of fulfilling all the norms which was procured here. In the need of more land and space the school had to be shifted to West Boragaon in the year 1997, where the school is located presently. However , the lower primary branch remained at Boripara, Maligaon which is functioning in the same location till date.
Nevertheless, it was functioning without any hindrance under SEBA and students were performing brilliantly in both aspects, scholastic and co scholastic till 2011. But gradually the demand amongst parents and students became louder regarding CBSE courses.
Respecting the desire of parents, students and well wishers, the school applied for the affiliation of CBSE recognition in the year 2010 which was accorded in the year 2011. Since then the school runs under Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.
